Betting - 2013 NFL Season: NFL Draft Overview And Highlights
NFL Betting lines will soon materialize for the
season, though the wait has to be excruciating (and must feel
interminable) for pro football bettors who want to have at it.
Even baseball-focused
online betting students probably get excited about
pro football-based developments when the subject matter is the
NFL draft, which was held last week and is now being digested by
fans of both the pro and the college game. Pro football fans
want to know how their favorite team is shaping up for the
coming season, while college football fans want to know if
players for their schools and conferences landed in good
situations and gained a prominent place in the draft.
One thing that needs to be said
right off the bat is that the rich got richer in the 2013 NFL
Draft. The New England Patriots stockpiled picks, as Bill
Belichick continued to outflank many of his colleagues in the
business. The Baltimore Ravens put together an outstanding
draft, as General Manager Ozzie Newsome found the kinds of
players who can become leaders on the roster for the next
decade, replacing just-retired Ray Lewis and soon-to-retire Ed
Reed (who is now with the Houston Texans, anyway). Inside
linebacker Arthur Brown can spell Lewis, while safety Matt Elam
is a vicious hitter who can fill in nicely for Reed. Defensive
tackle Brandon Williams was another superb pickup for a
Baltimore defense that received needed reinforcements.
Any
betting software expert would not be in a position
to dispute that the Pittsburgh Steelers produced another strong
draft. Linebacker Jarvis Jones is a first-rate playmaker who
should be able to make an immediate impact on gamedays. Running
back Le'Veon Bell is not a breakaway back, but he's a powerful
between-the-tackles runner who should be able to get one or two
tough yards when the Steelers face third-and-one situations in
the fourth quarter or in the red zone. The consensus around the
league is that the Steelers got the kinds of players who fit
their identity and their system.
When you prepare to make your next
betting play by reading the premier us sportbook
reviews in the country, you need to realize with respect to this
NFL season that the "rich getting richer" theme extends to the
AFC West and the NFC West. The Denver Broncos gave Peyton
Manning a talented running back, Montee Ball, who has a nice
mixture of power and speed. In the NFC West, the San Francisco
49ers - who needed to improve their pass rush after getting
exposed in December - snapped up defensive end Tank Carradine
and another pass-rushing force, Corey Lemonier. The Niners
addressed their needs and added safety Eric Reid to boost their
secondary. They should have a better pass defense against
Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks. Speaking of the
Seahawks, they grabbed defensive tackle Jordan Hill to improve a
defensive line that became thin due to injuries during the
playoffs last January. So many good teams got better in this
draft.
One should add that other teams - ones that did not make the
second round of the playoffs last season - fared well. The
Cincinnati Bengals pulled in playmakers to help quarterback Andy
Dalton. The St. Louis Rams snagged two receivers to help
quarterback Sam Bradford. The Minnesota Vikings surrounded
quarterback Christian Ponder with formidable receivers. The
Arizona Cardinals added to their defense and should be tough to
score on next season.
