MLB: Perfect Games - No Hitters - Updated June 9, 2017

June 3, 2017 righty Edinson Volquez tosses baseball's first no-hitter of the season in Marlins' 3-0 victory over Diamondbacks at Marlins Park. Volquez faced the minimum 27 batters, stricking out 10 with the two runners reaching base on walks erased by double plays.

Unbelievable mastery on the mound to say the least, but do we back these hurlers after making history?? A quick cruise through our database tells us it's a close call as the last eight hurlers recording a perfect game had a 4-4 TSR the following trip to the mound. The last eighteen starters tossing or involved in a no-hitter have a 8-10 team start record next trip to the hill and have a 16-16 TSR L32 following the pitching gem.

One interesting note: When one of these amazing hurlers faces a division foe the next game the TSR tumbles to 7-10. Little wonder, division foes face each other many times each season therefore are well aware of strengths, weaknesses of each player and team.
